I never planned to take a family trip to Vegas. Our goal was actually to finally take the boys skiing. However, when we started looking at prices in Colorado, California, etc, we knew we had to find other options. Our friends had recommended a small ski resort in Southern Utah, only 3 hours from Las Vegas. We booked a an easy nonstop from PTY.
One thing we didn’t check was where the Super Bowl was being held. Turns out, we arriving just in time for LV to host the Super Bowl. This quickly explained the insane hotel prices. The only affordable spot was Circus Circus. It turned out to be the perfect spot for kids. I wouldn’t like to look at the room with a black light, but I’ll just enjoy the ignorance. The kids loved the indoor amusement park which was completely empty while the rest of the city enjoyed the game.
The next morning, we met Mama Shelley and Papa John to drive to Brian Head Utah. Brian Head was the perfect place to learn. Although we all struggled with the 10k+ altitude, the boys couldn’t wait to get into the snow. They took naturally to snow boarding and after two half day lessons, they were bombing down the hill. It was my first time skiing in over 10 years, but luckily it came back.

On the return we spent another couple nights in Las Vegas. The boys loved the theatrics and drama of the casinos. We are an amazing meal at Giada’s, they got tons of adrenaline on the Big Apple roller coaster, but the highlight was the shows. We saw both One- the Cirque de Solie performance featuring Michael Jackson music and a magic performance by David Blaine.

While Vegas isn’t our typical stomping grounds, we actually had an amazing time.
