End of the School Year 2023

At the end of June, the boys wrapped up their school year. AJC finished 4th grade and PJC completed 1st.

AJC’s school year began with a huge challenge when his teacher left and a new one didn’t arrive until February. He regressed in the interim and I feared having to pull him and homeschool him (my biggest nightmare). Luckily with the help of the administrator, his new teacher, and a special Ed specialist, we were able to put an intervention plan in place, and he thrived in the second semester. While his strength is math, his teacher celebrated his creativity and inspired him in writing Greek mythology. He also developed an interest in reading graphic novels. For a special school project, he and his bestie developed their own smoothie business and raised money for the school. AJC had a lot of growth this year and is continuing to find his individuality, develop his creativity, and celebrate his friendships.

PJC continues to thrive at school. He had the most zen teacher this year who never raised her voice and seemed immune to the craziness of PJC and all his friends. PJC showed strengths in both math and reading. He showed humbleness in neither and prides himself on telling everyone that he is in the highest reading group. At least he is confident. Beyond academic, PJC loves his friends. He looks forward to playing with them whether it’s just digging a huge hole or playing floor is lava. He is a loyal, caring and dedicated friend.

The boys also continued with surf and skate academy this year. They seem to have a love/hate relationship with it, but they progressed enough to earn their yellow rash guards by the end of the year.

First day of the year….

Last day of the year…

We continue to be grateful for their small school with such a creative, nurturing, and inspiring staff. It’s the perfect fit for them. Now we’re on to a summer of adventures!
